After students have practiced techniques for creating pattern fills, matching colors, and using brushstrokes in Photoshop, we put skills into practice to create a portrait painting. Students use a photograph of someone whom they respect as a starting point, and brainstorm ideas for a meaningful background. We print these large—and always at least two copies!
