Supporting Practice
Nearly everyone has a camera in their pocket. That convenience sometimes makes it easy to forget that photography is a skill that improves with practice. Our WEEKLY PRACTICE in Photography classes is designed to establish a reflective routine of independent learning about photography (or video, with some adaptation of the prompts.)
Students have their choice each week from three media creation tasks. They complete one task independently. The tasks are the same each week, and students can choose to do the same task each week, or rotate based on their interests.
The tasks are designed to support independent consideration and practice of photography. Three out of four options involve creating media. The fourth involves a written reflection.
Once students understand manual camera settings and how to sign out our studio lenses, we add the option of taking photos at an event.Â
